World-Class Seafood From Kenya

Premium Quality

By training our harvesters on sushi-grade fish handling methods, financing fishing trip inputs, and managing a vertically integrated cold chain from boat to plate, Kumbatia is able to offer some of the highest quality seafood on the African market. We harvest pelagic species, reef species, shellfish species, and cephalopod species including, but not limited to, yellowfin tuna, big eye tuna, kingfish, dorado, snapper, grouper, emperor, rabbitfish, barracuda, jack trevally, spiny lobster, slipper lobster, mud crab, black tiger and banana prawn, octopus, and squid.

Industry Best Processing

Our seafood is processed in a state-of-the-art facility with FDA, EU, KEBS, and HACCP certification. All of our products can be packed and processed according to the client’s request and exported fresh or blast frozen anywhere across the world via sea or air freight.

Alternative Products & Services

  • Consulting

We consult governments and NGOs on coastal food system development, such as small-scale seafood supply chain improvement, off-grid cold storage and traceability implementation, market access and value addition strategies, and sustainability interventions.

  • Bee Products

We supply premium quality honey and beeswax from small-scale beekeepers located throughout Kenya. Our ethically sourced products come from both coastal and terrestrial forests and can be shipped in bulk or retail packaging.

  • Seaweed

We supply sustainably-sourced and traceable cottonii and spinosum seaweed from small-scale aquaculturists located on Kenya’s South Coast. This organic ingredient is a valuable input for cosmetic products as well as a natural alternative to food thickeners.

  • Indian Almond Oil

We are in the process of developing a value chain for cold-pressed Indian almond oil. Sourced from small-scale foragers on Kenya’s North Coast, this product acts as a regeneratively-sourced alternative to the traditional, more water intensive standard almond oil.
